YOUR COMPLIANT TAX DEPARTURE

Build your tax exit plan.
One clear step at a time.

We help you prepare a compliant departure from Canada: address your residential ties, document your move and understand how to end Canadian tax residency—so the CRA no longer taxes your worldwide income once you qualify as a non-resident.

Non-residency can end Canadian tax on foreign-source income. Departure tax, tax on Canadian-source income and existing amounts owed may still apply.

Your choices carry into the Exit Global planner, where your Canadian questions adapt to your answers. Start without an account and choose when to save your draft.

No payment. No account needed to start. Save when you choose.

Exit Canada helps you plan to legally sever residential ties with Canada and pursue greater economic freedom abroad. As part of Exit Global, we connect your Canadian departure with a wider network of country guides and relocation planning.

Accountants and lawyers may charge by the hour. Some big-firm tax lawyers in Vancouver charge over one thousand Canadian dollars an hour. That's why it matters which tasks you pay them to do.

Exit Canada helps you do the preparation first. If that avoids three billable hours at one thousand Canadian dollars an hour, that's three thousand dollars in avoided fees, before our costs. It's an illustration, not a guaranteed saving.

Exit Canada links to official C R A guidance, organises your information into a structured departure report, and offers optional human review with a written opinion memo. You can check the sources and see what each service includes.

Go through our Canadian planning survey. Tell us where you are moving, your timing, household, residential ties, and assets. This information helps us create a customized preparation plan, highlight missing records, and identify questions for professional review.

Form N R seventy-three lets you ask the C R A for an opinion on your residency status when leaving Canada. It is not a mandatory departure form. Our survey is separate from N R seventy-three and does not submit anything to the C R A.

Depending on your assets and circumstances, deemed-disposition calculations and reporting may be needed. Canada can treat certain assets as sold at market value when you cease residency, even without an actual sale. Exceptions apply. Your survey answers help identify topics for specialist review.

Choose a compiled report to organise your answers and evidence. Add the separately agreed team review for a written opinion and recommended changes. Complex accounting, legal, and valuation work is scoped separately, so you know what you are buying.

Visit exit canada dot app and choose Start the survey. Complete the questions to help shape your customized preparation plan. Save your progress when ready. Personal advice, any N R seventy-three submission, and tax filings require a separately agreed scope.

Full-service Canadian exit planning can run into thousands of dollars. Start here for free, organise your departure facts and choose paid preparation or review when you need it.

Build your plan for free. Add a compiled report for C$37 or a separately agreed written team review for C$687. Pay for the level of help you choose.

Tax advice, calculations, returns and legal work are separately scoped. The plan and report prepare your information; they do not establish your tax status.

What does “thousands” refer to?

As one Canadian example, Blueprint Financial advertises its full-service Canada Exit Blueprint from C$5,000, with strategy, implementation and professional coordination. Our preparation offers have a narrower scope; this is not a like-for-like comparison or a savings guarantee. See the published package (checked 10 September 2026).

CANADIAN QUESTIONS WORTH GETTING RIGHT

The facts behind a compliant Canadian tax exit.

Residency is about your circumstances

Your home, spouse or partner, dependants and other ties can matter. Tax-treaty rules may also be relevant. A departure date alone does not settle the answer.

Read CRA residency guidance

Different assets need different questions

Leaving can trigger a deemed disposition of certain property, even without a sale. Exceptions apply. Prepare an inventory before asking about valuations, reporting or a deferral.

Read CRA departure-tax guidance

Consider both countries

You may keep a TFSA after becoming non-resident, but Canadian contribution rules change and your new country may tax its income. Review your accounts in the context of your destination.

Will I still owe the CRA after leaving Canada?

Once you become a non-resident, Canada generally taxes Canadian-source income rather than your worldwide income. Departure tax and existing liabilities may still apply. We help you prepare your residency facts, ties, records and questions for a compliant departure; our planner or report does not itself change your status or provide CRA approval.

How does this help me gain more certainty about my tax status?

Start by documenting your circumstances, supporting evidence and unresolved questions. The free plan organises your preparation; the compiled report brings your submitted information together; a separately agreed written review adds team comments. Individual professional advice, filings and any authority determination require the relevant separate process.

What do I get for free?

The Exit Plan helps you organise your route, priorities, situation and next steps. You can also keep track of days and a planning budget. Starting a plan does not order a report or book a review.

Do I need an account or a card to start?

No. Start the planner without either. Save a copy on your device, export it, or create an account when you want to save it there. Save again after making changes.

What if I have already moved?

Start with your current situation and the dates you know. Use the plan to organise open questions and missing records. Ask an adviser about any time-sensitive obligations.

Do I have to submit Form NR73 to use ExitCanada?

No. ExitCanada is an independent planning and preparation service. Using the planner or ordering a report does not submit Form NR73 or any other form to the CRA.

How is the report different from the free plan?

The free planner is a tool you work through yourself. The paid report compiles your submitted answers and documents into a structured preparation file with missing information and open questions identified.

When is the written review useful?

Consider it when you want our team to examine your prepared file and provide written comments under an agreed review engagement. Complex tax calculations, valuations, legal work and filings require a separate scope.

Does this determine my tax status or secure a visa?

No. Planning and document preparation do not establish tax residency, secure immigration approval or replace a personal professional assessment. Government authorities make their own decisions.

Can I start without all my documents?

Yes. Begin with what you know. Keep a list of missing records and questions to resolve; you do not need a complete file to start planning.
